The Examiner Empty Stocking Appeal
Launceston Carols by Candlelight is pleased to be once again supporting the Examiner Empty Stocking fund to help bring christmas cheer to people in need in our community. All profits from the event will be donated to the appeal.
The Empty Stocking Appeal was launched in December 1908 and remains one of Australia's longest-running charity appeals. In 1910, The Examiner took over responsibility for running the appeal and on today's values it has provided more than $2 million for Launceston's needy. All the money raised for the Empty Stocking Appeal goes to four local charities - the City Mission, Launceston Benevolent Society, St Vincent de Paul Society and the Salvation Army. |
